CyberWombat's Armor Models:
Battle-Damaged Soviet KV-2
Click on the photos to expand
This is the Trumpeter KV-2 with extensive battle damage. Friul ATL-10 tracks, Lionroar LE35060 PE, turned aluminum barrel, Verlinden 1329 Engine, and transmission scavenged from a Maquette T-34 kit. Finished with Tamiya NATO green, multiple layers of drybrush and Mig powders.
It will eventually be turned into a diorama. The inspiration for it came from several photos in the Squadron/Signal book, "Soviet Panzers in Action".
I learned a LOT in doing this vehicle - doing realistic battle damage is tough! I had tried using the Voyager 35069 PE fender set, but gave up and went back to using the kit fenders. The Voyager PE has sunken rivets, which is not correct, and really needs to be soldered together to work properly. I did use a few inner supports from it.
The track rust is going to get toned down a little later, it is a little too orange. Also the rust on the engine and running gear needs to be toned up to match. Overall, though, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - there isn't a model I've done that couldn't stand some improvement.
